Sylvie-isms

So Sylvie talks a lot now, about all kinds of things. Here are a few things that she says a lot, and things that I'd like to remember forever:

"Cee cee" = "Sylvie". Everyone at her daycare calls her Cee Cee and that's what she calls herself, though I have heard her say "Cee vee" a couple times.

"Hockey game song" = Pachelbel's Canon in D. How or why she started referring to this song as the Hockey Game Song is a mystery to us. She has told us that she heard this song at a hockey game, but we're pretty certain that's not the case. She asks to hear this song every morning when we're eating breakfast. Luckily, Kyle owns the CD titled "Pachelbel's Greatest Hit" which plays different versions of the song over and over.

"Big naked/Tati naked" = "Big naked" means one has no clothes on at all. "Tati naked" (meaning "tiny naked") means that one has either a shirt or pants on, but not both.

"Show you sumpin" = A favorite game of Sylvie's right now. She says she wants to show me sumpin, and then walks me into a different room and decides what she wants to show me.

"Diffie toy" = "Diffie toy" translates literally into "different toy", but it figuratively means "I'm bored" or "Entertain me" or "Dance, monkey, dance." Kyle and I get really irked by this phrase and, thankfully, I think it is finally starting starting to fade away from her vocabulary.

"Booful" = She is just starting to call things "booful" or beautiful. The other night she proclaimed my old Burke Museum t-shirt with a dinosaur on the front to be "booful."

"Sdody" = "Story" means she wants us to tell her a story, usually about Toby, the dog who lives next door, or about Sylvie the Traveler or about a family of otters.

"Cee cee do that sometimes" and "Cee cee has doggie like that" = This is what she says when she sees people doing things that she wants to do or when she sees a dog or a cat that she likes. It always makes me laugh.

"Birdie book" = Sibley's Guide to Birds. She really loves looking through this book and identifying the cardinal, blue jay, snowy owl and red-tailed hawk.

  1. Love. This.

Linus says, "Last day I..." and then repeats whatever instance (usually in a book) we are discussing. So, "Last day I went to the hospital and had a big owie," when talking about Nick's bike crash.

I wish we were the kind of people who make up stories. that is just the coolest.
