Denial

Kyle did the drive to Denver and Sylvie and I flew. Upon our arrival, instead of acknowledging our transition and laying low, we immediately headed out to a VRBO house in Fairplay, near Breckenridge, for the wedding of one of Kyle's med school friends. It seemed like a good idea, given that our stuff wouldn't arrive for another few days.

The wedding venue, the Flying Horse Ranch, was beautiful.

Kyle and Dave played around with some fly fishing rods during the rehearsal dinner. The event was gorgeous and love-filled. But, during the weekend, we were at about 10,000 feet and we asked a lot of Sylvie to acclimate to lots of travel, a screwy schedule, and lots of new places. She did pretty well, all things considered.

Our weekend in Fairplay happened to coincide with Burro Days, a festival where burro and llama races are held. Main Street was jammed with people who would be running a 3 mile race with borrowed llamas!

The race began!

We stayed with Ciskes (who came from Madison) and Flanums (who came from Anchorage). It was awesome to hang with all of them. Our rental house had Guitar Hero, which turned out to be a bonding and competitive experience.

More to come later on the reality of our lives.
