Davos

In December, Kyle went to Davos to spend ten days as a doc for the US Nordic Ski Team. This entire experience -- working as a team doc for an elite nordic ski team, skiing at Davos -- has been a long-time dream of his, and I'm happy to report that it was everything that he'd hoped it would be. Beautiful place. Nice group of folks. Satisfying to work for the team. Very collegial energy. All in all, an awesome opportunity, of which he was lucky to be able to take advantage.

He hasn't had a chance to post any pictures or stories about the trip, so I'm adding the pictures that he sent from Switzerland, along with his descriptions, so that it makes it into our annals of family history.

A partial team photo at the end of the second day of racing. The team did reasonably well. Not as well as hoped or thought they could do but still some respectable results. [Kyle is third from right!]

Alpenhorn or alphornen depending on what I've seen. Lots of Bernese mountain dogs around as well. So adorable. Haven't seen any St Bernards yet on this trip. Nor any sheep.

This is from the waxing area. A number of teams have big wax trucks like the Russian one on the right. The U.S. Team just raised money to buy a more modest one for next year. The Norwegian truck expands out both sides and the back and raises the top to form a full second story. Wow.
