It's official: BG is 2 years old! Her big day was Saturday, and it was great. We went to Janesville and celebrated her with her grandparents. We ate chili and played. Her grandparents gave her her first bike - a green balance bike that she officially loves. She has yet to take it outside, but she walks it around the house and then she "parks it" and "locks it", which means she lays it down in the middle of a doorway and uses a toy to lock it up. She also opened presents from Mor Mor and Pop, who gave her some fabulous doggie pajamas, play plates and teacups made in Manitowoc, and homemade barrettes.
Sylvie had a cupcake with two candles in it, and it took her a long time to warm up to the idea of cake. In general, she observes situations for quite awhile before diving in, and birthday cake was no exception. She picked at it for awhile, finally decided she was into chocolate frosting, and then finally went at the yellow cake inside.
She was clearly worried at this point.
Intrigued by the candles, but still unsure.
Waiting for a cue that it's safe.
And finally, she dug in. Our little monster. I just love her.
First time on a bike. We're looking forward to helping her learn to love it.
