Fred

Sylvie has arrived at a phase where she wants to have conversations with pretty much any stuffed animal, picture of an animal or body part that she comes into contact with.

She regularly shares stories with my toes --- "Toesies, Sylvie threw up in the car on the way going to Bernie's." (She did actually throw up on the way to Bernie's, which is her daycare.)

She asks animals in books how they are doing --- "Elephant, why you crying? Want a kiss?"

She talks to playgrounds --- "Playground, your rocks are poking Sylvie's feet."

These mini-conversations are hilarious to me, but also taxing because she keeps asking questions of these inanimate objects until they respond. So Kyle or I ends up responding and carrying on a conversation on behalf of the toesies/elephant/playground that cannot talk out loud.

On our drive back to Madison from Janesville two weekends ago, Kyle created "Fred", a little person made of Kyle's hand. Fred basically talked with Sylvie lost of the way back from Janesville. It was awesome. The next night, she asked Fred for a goodnight kiss. Fred now makes regular appearances when she wants to share something with someone who is not Mommy or Daddy.
