So, Sylvie and I are in Italy!
The travel was long, but relatively smooth. We got to Chicago early so we killed time at the Ogden Ave exit off of the 294, which happens to have an awesome park and a Whole Foods right off the exit, for future reference. We played at the park and got dinner at WF before making our way to O'Hare to return our rental car and get to our gate.
We were obscenely early even after our park outing, so we explored the terminal and the tunnel of lights. We played Spot It. We Facetimed with people. We changed Sylvie into PJs. W filled water bottles and used the bathroom.
We ate delicious sweet things.
Finally we boarded our Lufthansa flight (a 9:20pm departure) and settled into our seats. This is Sylvie's response to finding out that each seat had its own screen for independent viewing pleasure. She watched Mickey Mouse. I watched Joy (meh), The Big Short (good!), and half of Sisters (meh).
Sylvie then went to sleep on the seats before transitioning to the floor. I never really slept because I was looking out for her feet so that they wouldn't get run over by a drink cart. I also may have been a little amped up and unable to sleep. Either way, I did not get any shut eye.
We had a two hour layover in Munich, and then made it to Naples, where Sarah met us at the airport! We went to bed that night in their house in Formia, and after twelve lovely hours of sleep, I woke to this view.
Gaeta and Formia are lovely coastal towns. Sarah and Matt live a block from the beach in a really comfortable home. Here's Sylvie enjoying the beach the next day. We collected lots of shells.
