Lockout Drill

It makes me very, very sad to receive an email like this from my daughter's school. It makes me want to homeschool her and never let her leave the house. I know it's a necessary drill in today's world, but I really wish that it wasn't.

Mitchell Families,
As a part of our annual Emergency Response drills for the Standard Response Protocol, we practiced a Lockdown Drill this morning in partnership with Jeffco Security and Golden Police.  As with any drill, our staff SRT (School Response Team) observes how students and staff respond to emergency situations (similar to Fire Drills or Tornado Drills).

In a Lockdown, students move away from sight and maintain silence.  Teachers lock the doors, turn out the lights, and direct students to move away from sight. Students outside do not return to the building, and potentially evacuate to a safe location determined by our staff in partnership with law enforcement.  Our students and staff did a great job of following the procedures necessary for safety.

If you have any questions about today’s Lockdown Drill, please refer to our school’s website and the Standard Response Protocol documents, contact XXX@jeffco.k12.co.us or call the Office at 303-982-5875.

Thank you and have a great evening.
Samantha Hollman, Principal
