I have a job! I mean, beyond working everyday starting with the first mewl around 6:15am and lasting until the little love goes to bed at 6:30pm, when it doesn't even really end because I'm always on call if she wakes up at any point in the next 12 hours. Beyond that, I have a job! A job that pays me and acknowledges my contribution. Where they give me a title that suggests I know more than lullabies and laundry. Where people thank me for my work and let me leave, with no further responsibility for the day, around 5:30pm. Isn't that great?
My new place of employment is called the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS). Yes, really. They (we) do labor, energy and transportation policy, and work with cities and states throughout the country to help them implement innovative and progressive projects in these areas. I'm the all-around finance person there, working mainly on energy efficiency, transportation and other finance-related issues. The people there are great and I'm really excited about it. I'm also only working there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, which feels just perfect at this point in time.
