The little things

For me, raising a child has been an experience comprised of tiny observations and mini-memories. There are little, everyday things about a toddler that make us smile, and they come and go so gradually that I sometimes fail to register them. These experiences are so fleeting that a parent rarely has a chance to capture them on film.

For instance, the way that static electricity affects her fine hair. The way she hugs and sways with items that she likes, including stuffed animals, cereal boxes, oranges and toothbrushes. The joy she takes from mimicking Kyle and I, making gorilla noises, pointing to her ears or doing the motions for the itsy bitsy spider. The way she trusts us when she lays back into our hands in the bath. And way she loves to sleep with PD stashed underneath her face or body.
