So the snow this winter, so far, has been less than expected. December was mild and though we've gotten snow in January, it has come slowly, in fewer bursts than this area usually sees. As a result, the Grodnik Nagle Ski Team has been thwarted in our efforts to get out and ski locally. Kyle spent last week in Hayward at a training to become an official classifier for paraolympians (more on that later, hopefully) so he got to enjoy the trails up there. But back at the ranch, I was frustrated and homebound, making it to the gym only on workdays when I could find time.
This weekend and last night, I finally got out! I went to a golf course five minutes from our house on Sunday and soaked up the sun on the trails! And last night, while Kyle stayed home nursing a cold, I ventured out to the weekly race at a local park and did a 10k on super icy lighted trails. I was hesitant to try it because I am way out of shape, and am pretty sure I came in dead last, but it felt great to exert myself out in the cold! Thanks to my dear husband for encouraging me to do it.
